AI Safety Talk Tour at Universities

Generalist

Organize a series of talks at top universities by senior people from frontier AI labs and AI safety organizations about why they take AI risk seriously, and follow up with the students it resonates with. Mentored by Jake McKinnon (formerly 80,000 Hours).

About the project

Senior people working on AI at frontier labs and safety organizations are increasingly willing to say publicly that they are worried about where AI is going. This project brings that message to top universities as a series of talks, and follows up with the students it resonates with, pointing them to their local AI safety or EA group, 80,000 Hours resources, or BlueDot courses.

The mentee runs the campus side of the logistics: choosing target universities, finding the student groups, departments and institutes that will host and advertise each talk, driving the advertising through those partners, and running the follow-up with attendees. Mentored by Jake McKinnon (formerly 80,000 Hours), with a weekly 30-minute check-in.
